The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has expressed deep sadness over the death of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and other officers in a military plane crash on Friday.

The party, in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Alhaji Falalu Bello, OFR, disclosed on Sunday that it “regards Gen. Attahiru and the other officers as national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the security and stability of Nigeria. And their heart-rending departure is a grievous loss not only to their immediate families but Nigeria as a whole.”

The statement further said, “the party condoles with the Nigerian military, the families of Lt. Gen. Attahiru and the other officers and men who lost their lives while actively serving our nation and prays to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the great loss.

“The PRP however laments the conspicuous absence of President Muhammadu Buhari who doubles as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Vice President, Senate President, and Speaker House of Representatives at the funeral and burial of the departed officers who paid the supreme price for the security of our nation.

“The PRP therefore describes the absence of President Buhari at the burial of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and other officers as totally unacceptable and demoralizing to the morale of our armed forces. Hence, the party calls on President Buhari and other key national officers to make amends by showing empathy for the people they govern, particularly for those that risk their lives for the security and stability of our nation.

“Finally, the PRP exhorts Nigerians to keep praying for our armed forces who usually put their lives at stake for the security of our nation.”

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has felicitated with all Nigerian Muslims on the occasion of Eid-ul-Kabir 2021 celebration.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Falalu Bello and made available to newsmen on Sunday.

Part of the statement reads: “the Eid-ul-Kabir festival symbolizes and promotes the spirit of self sacrifice. Therefore, the PRP uses this significant occasion to exhort Nigerians to continue to show love and mercy to one another.

“With the security situation in the country that is worsening by the day coupled with the gnawing poverty in the land, it is obvious that millions of Nigerians will not have the luxury of revelling in the season. Hence, the PRP considers it pertinent to call on the Muslims nationwide to fervently pray for the nation as they celebrate Eid-ul-Kabir for God’s urgent intervention.

“In addition, we call on the governments at all levels to come up with urgent and proactive strategies that would put an end to the myriad problems of general insecurity, banditry, unemployment, hunger, bad economy, among others.

“Finally, the PRP rejoices with Muslims nationwide at this festive time and wishes them a happy celebration. And as we celebrate, let us all recommit ourselves, individually and collectively, to make Nigeria a safer, equitable, progressive and more egalitarian fatherland for all irrespective of our ethnic, religious and/or cultural plurality,” the statement revealed.

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has expressed its readiness and determination to defeat other political parties in the Anambra State Governorship election slated for November 6, 2021.

The Anambra State Chairman of the party, Hon. Mathias N. Aninwachukwu, in a press statement made available on Sunday, disclosed that the prospect of the party was high and bright considering the fact that their candidate, Dr. Nnamdi Nwawuo had been duly screened and given a clean bill of health by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last Friday.

Part of the statement reads; “in spite of the fact that this is the first time PRP is contesting gubernatorial election in Anambra State, the clean bill of health received by our candidate from INEC had indisputably shown that our candidate will participate in the November governorship poll and it is an indication that our party has the strength to win the election overwhelmingly.

“The above development has also exposed and terminated the activities of some imposters who are desperate to embarrass and tarnish the reputable name of our great party, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

“As the oldest surviving political party in Nigeria, PRP has good policies and programs for the Ndi Anambra with job creation, agriculture, industrialization, transformation of health sector, provision of basic and functional education as primary priorities.

“Finally, we use this medium to encourage our party members and supporters across Anambra State to continue working diligently, harmoniously and peacefully so as to ensure the party reach its deserved destination which is victory,” the statement revealed.
