The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Edo chapter, in conjunction with the Light of Peace for Africa Foundation on Wednesday said it has slated Sept. 16, for fasting and prayers for the conduct of peaceful state elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the state governorship election is slated for Sept. 19.
The Chairman of the Association, Bishop Oyonnude Kure, who tagged the event, “The Unbeatable God”, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Benin ahead of the event.
Kure said there was the need for the heads of blocs and God fearing people in the state to come together in one voice to seek the face of God to avoid bloodshed and violence.
According to him, seeking God’s grace before, during and after the election cannot be overemphasised because a peaceful election is critical to the destiny of the citizens of the state.
“CAN hereby calls on all churches, all pastors, all Christians, all God fearing and all good people of Edo for a one-day prayer and fasting for peaceful elections in Edo.
“The prayer service is very crucial and critical to the destiny of the state.
“We all in humility and reverence stand in prayers to call on God Almighty for divine intervention in His mercy and Almightiness for peace like a river in the state before, during and after elections,” Kure said.
The leader of CAN described the Sept. 19, governorship elections as a very crucial moment in determining the destiny of the state bearing in mind the future of the state, and the future of its children.
He noted that integrity, faith and the sustainability of the developmental strides that had since placed the state in an enviable position in the comity of states of the Nigerian federation must be considered while casting the votes.
Bishop Kure urged the Christians and non Christians in the state to foster, promote and maintain peace in the land.
He also tasked them to vote wisely and conscientiously on the day of the election without any fear. (NAN)
Bauchi PRP Exco pass vote of confidence on Gwadabe
Members of the Bauchi State Executive Committee of the Peoples Redemption Party have passed a vote of confidence in the Chairmanship of Barrister Ahmed Umar Farouk Gwadabe.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of their State Executive Committee Meeting held on Saturday in Bauchi.
The communique, which was signed by 12 out of the 16 Executive Committee Members, has appreciated the efforts and commitment of the State Chairman towards resuscitating the party in the state.
Earlier, the State Chairman, Umar Farouk Gwadabe has expressed sadness over the demise of the Board of Trustee Chairman of the party and former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa. He also commiserated with family of the deceased and the National Leadership of the party.
According to him, “the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Bauchi State Chapter is deeply saddened by the demise of an exceptional patriot, elder statesman, one of the pillars of the PRP and former governor of old Kaduna state, Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa.
“Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa’s passage is a colossal loss to the People’s Redemption Party and the whole Nigeria considering his admirable qualities and excellent contributions towards the survival and development of PRP and Nigeria at large.
“Throughout his life, Baba Balarabe had exemplified a life that is worthy of emulation. He made sure, either as a governor or party leader, that he lived well above board. He was spartan, simple and ideologically grounded and would be remembered for always standing for justice, equality, and democracy.
“While preparation for formal condolences is in top gear, we heartily commiserate with the National Leadership of our great party under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Falalu Bello, OFR, Alhaji Balarabe Musa’s family and PRP members worldwide as we pray that the Almighty God grants perpetual repose to his soul and fortitude to the family and the nation at large, to bear this great loss.”
PRP mourns Balarabe Musa
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has expressed deep sadness over the demise of its immediate National Chairman and former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa who died today, Wednesday in Kaduna.
The party in an obituary signed by its National Chairman, Malam Falalu Bello, OFR described Balarabe Musa as ‘an indefatigable warrior in the battle for the liberation and upliftment of the common man’.
The full statement reads: “With deep sadness but in total submission to the will of the Almighty Allah, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) hereby announce the death of Alh. (Dr.) Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa CON, the former National Chairman and till his death today 11th November 2020, the Chairman; Board of Trustees (BOT) of our great party.
“An indefatigable warrior in the battle for the liberation and material upliftment of the common man, Alhaji Balarabe, throughout his life never left the trenches of the struggle. He stood to the very end with the oppressed multitudes, against all manner of harassment, deprivations and provocations, truly a colossus in the struggles for Nigeria’s emancipation. The best tribute we can pay to his memory is to rededicate ourselves to the struggle he committed his life to.”
Bauchi PRP elects Bar Ahmed Gwadabe new State Chairman, affirms loyalty to Falalu Bello
The Bauchi State Chapter of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has elected Barrister Ahmed Umar Farouq Gwadabe as the new State Chairman of the party following the exit of Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi who defected to APC.
The state chapter of the party also reiterated its satisfaction and confidence in the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party under the National Chairmanship of Alhaji Falalu Bello, OFR for repositioning and taking the party to greater heights.
These were contained in a communiqué signed by 11 members of the State Executive Committee including the State Vice Chairman, Ibrahim Sambo, and released to newsmen after a meeting held on Friday in Bauchi.
The communiqué explained that 11 out of 16 members of the State Executive Committee voted in favour of Barrister Ahmed Umar Farouq Gwadabe.
Part of the communiqué reads: “After comprehensive and fruitful deliberations on all the issues tabled before the meeting, the members of the State Executive Committee have resolved as follows:
“That the State Executive Committee has accepted the resignation of the former Chairman of the party in person of Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi from the position of Bauchi State Chairmanship of the party and wished him success in his future endeavors.
“That the State Executive Committee has appointed Barrister Ahmed Umar Farouq Gwadabe as the new State Chairman of the party pending convention.
“That the State Executive Committee of the party, on behalf of the Bauchi State Chapter of the party, has reaffirmed its loyalty, satisfaction and confidence in the leadership of the Party’s National Executive Committee [NEC] under the Chairmanship of Alh. Falalu Bello for repositioning and taking the party to greater heights.”
